imageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageGorgeous day out with ER at the EQ markets at Moore park. I took her to the animal farm yard where she held all kinds of pets. Favouring a baby chick that fell asleep in her little hands. We walked through the markets and sampled all the goods. Such a delight to the senses, beautiful things to see, smell, touch everywhere.

I love to watch ER interact with the market people and listen to the conversation she sparks up. She is so full of life and her joy is contagious. Sometimes I want to be just like her.

imageHeres what you need:

  • Plastic bags (the less crinkled the better)
  • 4 BBQ kebab sticks
  • Sticky tape
  • Light sting
  • A ruler
  • Marker pen
  • Scissors

image

1. Tape 2 skewers together to make one big 30cm stick. I measured 15cm across the skewers and then taped them at the 15cm point.

2.Chop the end of the plastic bag and lay flat.image

3.Arrange the skewers on the plastic bag (NB: you only need one sheet of plastic per kite) and then mark pen dots at the skewer end. Rule lines to connect the dots and then cut out the kite shape.

imageOptional, paint the kites but be gentle not to rip the plastic!image

4. Stick skewer tips to plastic with tape. Fold tape around to the other side.

6.Poke holes in plastic, where the skewers cross. Pass the string through and secure skewers together firmly.

7.Unroll and cut off about 50 feet of the string and tie to a cardboard square OR do like me…. and make a little holding rod out of a few skewers secured with tape.imageTAIL IS OPTIONAL

  • Attach a tail near the bottom with a simple knot and secure with a bit of tape.
  • Cut squares of ribbon (More plastic bag could work too) and tie a knot around the middle with the tail to make a pretty bow.

Have Fun!

Yup nearly 1 year here in Sydney. Totally let this blog slip away from me… I truly did what to share my experiences living abroad as an Au Pair. I also wanted to keep my family and friends updated. Hi Mum.

Months later though… I am an Au Pair somewhere in Sydney with no photographic/blog worthy evidence of the amazing times I’ve been having. No longer! I promise to start posting on this blog regularly. Its holidays now so I will share some of the DIY goodness my little friend and I get up to!

Even though I love my current host family to bits, its time to move on to gain some more life and work experience. I am currently in contact with a new family from Kuwait living in France looking for a live in Nanny…. on their boat for the summer! Giggling with delight at the idea of going to France. I promise to share this process with you.

Bonne nuit x

Visited the Donna Hay General Store. Oh my…. What a treat! Upon arrival we were greeted with complementary espresso and tasty tester brownies which were AH-mazing. Everywhere you look there is some cute detail to admire/devour. The place smelled of Candy floss and freshly baked goods, I died.  Feeling inspired to bake a million treats with Ella Rose and also got so many ideas for her birthday. On departure I took with me a box of Macaroons and a Do-it-yourself double choc brownie kit for our girl Georgia who is turning 19 HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRETTY LADY X X X X X X X

What a glorious day! Zahria and I decided to treat our fabulous selves to lunch, accompanied by baby Harlem and Mana. Our bellys were sooooo full had to walk it off!

This morning Zahria & I took Samba the pup on the amazing coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte. Boost juice in hand, we made our way there and back at a leisurely pace (See Samba got tired) As if the breathtaking views and glorious sunshine weren’t enough, on the way home we saw dolphins! The experience was totally magic & warmed my wee heart. Wish I could have caught them on cam but my iPhone zoom didn’t do the scene justice! But see our chill viewing spot on the cliff!

Today was simple. Today was wholesome. Today was good.
